Bloomwilds

For parents

What Bloomwilds is, what it sells, and how to keep spending in your hands.

What the game is

Bloomwilds is a gentle garden game. Players grow small plant creatures called Bloomlings from cuttings, decorate an island, and send a squad of five to clear away a creeping Blight. Battles are cartoon scuffles between plant creatures, with no blood.

Purchases

Bloomwilds is free to play. It sells Gems, passes and bundles for real money. Some of what Gems buy is down to chance: wishes at the Wishing Pond bring a random Bloomling. The game shows the odds before every wish, and they're also on our odds page.

You can turn in-app purchases off, or make each one need your approval.

On iPhone and iPad

  1. Open Settings, then Screen Time, then Content & Privacy Restrictions.
  2. Turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap iTunes & App Store Purchases, then In-app Purchases, and choose Don't Allow.
  3. If your family uses Family Sharing, you can turn on Ask to Buy instead, so each purchase waits for your yes.

On Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store app, tap the profile picture, then Settings, then Authentication.
  2. Tap Require authentication for purchases and choose For all purchases through Google Play on this device.
  3. If your child has a Google account managed with Family Link, you can require approval for their purchases there.

Ads

Some rewards can be doubled or sped up by watching a short video ad. An ad only plays when the player taps to watch one. The game asks for the player's age first: under 13 it shows no ads at all, and from 13 to 15 ads are never personalized. The privacy policy has the details.

Playing with others

There's no chat in Bloomwilds. Players can join a Grove, visit other gardens and duel other players' squads, so other players can see their garden and their squad.

Time spent

A day in the garden lasts 24 real minutes, and buildings keep working while the game is closed, so there's no need to leave it open. Daily rewards reset once a day.
